New Blog Who Dis?
After ever so much delay, at least a legit @ss year, I've created. . . rather repurposed an old blog into what better aligns with my current passions in life. Hmmm, maybe that should be singular as I am majorly passionate about stuffing my face until I am round in the tummy which someone recently referred to as "warm belly." Warm belly was definitely a way of life for me at one point, some 20-25 odd pounds ago. I've since shed that fluffy huggable delight as I began running Obstacle Course Races in 2016 with some of my close friends that better be reading and following this half assed masterpiece in the making. But that's another story. . . blog, Fitbaldfoodie, that will most likely launch soon :) or maybe It'll be a secondary page, once I figure out this new Blogger interface and its features.
The purpose or intent of this blog is to share some of my foodie ways and delights, whether they be local to Chicago or discovered while traveling. Last year I visited over 100 new restaurants and this year , I may try to visit another 100 new places. Currently my new venue post count is around 28 on IG but the actual number is a bit closer to 40. So I definitely have some catching to do 😉. On occasion I will make category posts featuring certain types of food: burgers, chicken, ramen, and donuts etc. I will certainly make my best effort to post monthly, maybe bi-weekly depending on travels. I know one of my next posts will be related to recent travels as I've been to Columbia and Jamaica in the earlier part of this year ☀. But for now enjoy a few of my greatest hits on IG to date,May 20th, as liked by beloved friends and followers on The Gram.
2. 293 likes: Donut Ice cream Sandwich from Firecakes. A.K.A new restaurant 57 for the year 2017, also in River North. This post was actually pretty freaking amazing in terms of the likes and visibility that it received. I posted on this on Memorial Day 2017, at a time where I only had about 300 followers it was my highest liked posted until the French Toast took over this past April, yes damn near a year and 1500ish followers later. Like WTF Instagram algorithms, give me those numbers again?!! A beautiful anomaly that I thoroughly enjoyed and wish to replicate #LBS so if you any advice I am all ears as this post had 2,792 impressions compared to 999 for the French Toast "for those with business accounts".
3. 269 likes: Taco about yum goals with these lovelies from Tacolicious in the Mission District of San Fran. Very assuming spot, it can be easy to walk right by as they only have symbol out front, which outsiders, like myself, will not recognize. Some of the best steak tacos I've ever had with a tasty myriad of sauces to moisten and excite thy palate.
4. 260 likes: Mary had a yummy lamb or at least River Roast Chicago did. Another River North find "see a pattern?" and new restaurant 22 for 2018. Very nice shot considering it was taken on a napkin in my hand by shadowing was point. A taste to adjust to as I am not a fan of cold pickled onions but meat was good and the venue itself is right on the river and they have live jazz bands to foster an inviting atmosphere.

1. 446 likes: Fruit and French Toast from Pink Taco A.K.A new restaurant 19, for 2018. This gem was discovered during a Brunch Bites event which essentially was a food tour through the River North neighborhood of Chicago. Eight total stops with each restaurant having a food item and adult beverage.

Still playing catch up on the new venues but this place is dope, right on the river so it can have some stunning views on a good day. I'd def go back to try more of their items. The pumpernickel pastrami lamb above was an interesting dish that probed my curiosity.
